I will never stay at a Wingate ever again after my horrible experience at the location in the Willowbrook area of Houston. I arrived at my hotel at about 1:00 AM after driving 15 hours from Ohio.
I work for State Farm as an adjuster and was coming to Houston for my new assignment. The front entrance was locked upon my arrival. I called the front desk, and received no answer after multiple calls. 30 minutes later they finally answered the phone.
The clerk stated what do you want this time of night we are already booked. I replied that I had reservations and he said say what *** and hung up the phone in my face. They would not let me inside to the front desk. No one was present at the front desk for almost an hour at this point.
I got inside by following a nice couple inside. When I finally got someone to the front desk she was very racist and treated me with disdain. She had a white Hoodie on that she used to cover her face as if I was a *** off the street. When I attempted to pass her my phone to show her my reservations she looked at me like I was stinky.
Then she asked would I read my confirmation out loud while turning her nose up at my phone. Finally, she tells me that my reservations had been canceled at 3pm without sending me an email to inform me of how she deliberately canceled my reservation to give it to someone else. I asked how could you cancel my reservation that was paid for without my consent. She stated I don't have to give you a reason if you not here by 3pm we can cancel your reservation if you booked through Priceline.
I asked her about my refund and she stated talk to Priceline that's not my problem. I informed her that I'd been driving all day and got caught in traffic in Arkansas which delayed my arrival to Texas. She said it was nothing she could do and walked off nonchalantly.
I ended up having to sleep in my truck because all the local hotels were booked up. This is the worst experience with a hotel I've had in my life after 20 years on the road as an adjuster.

User's recommendation: Never stay at the Windham if you're black. People in the Willowbrook area in Houston are extremely racist.

I recently stayed at an Wingate by Wyndham and it was a horrible stay! From the beginning of check in the front desk associate was sagging and had to use one hand to type and the other to hold his pants up.
Then the elevators was broke and the fitsness room had not one piece of fitness equipment as advertised on the website! Once in the room the couch, curtains, microwave, and tub all were dirty and rusty!!! The paint was peeling on the walls as well as roaches crawling on the wall. I really hate that this horrible hotel is a representation of you all and would advise NO ONE TO EVER STAY THERE!
This hotel should NOT be apart of you all franchise and hope that you all look into this horrible business immediately because this is not an acceptable staying condition for anyone to be in!!! Wingate off Mills rd in Houston, TX.

I reserved a King Size Bed room on booking. com for 6 nights at the Wingate by Wyndham in Williamsburg, VA at your location on 2007 Richmond Road several months ago.
When I got there they did not have my reservation even after I showed them my email from Booking.Com with my confirmation number 387495**** and pin number2038. I also showed them the email from Booking.com on August 8th reminding me of my upcoming trip. I just drove 6 hours through heavy DC, Richmond, and Virginia Beach traffic to find out that your corporation had a disconnect with Booking.com I am very disappointed that I reserved a room and your corporation did not honor my reservation through booking.com. I did book a smaller room at your hotel but that is not what I wanted since everything here is all booked up in this area and price have gone up sharply since I booked my original reservations.
Booking.com did cancel my reservation so I wouldn't be charged for not showing up which I did. My question is what are you going to do to fix this?
I would be happy to hear what you will offer before I take this up to legal channels since I did have a reservation with your hotel in Williamsburg. Thank you I will be glad to make a negative review on the local and national media about your corportation.

User's recommendation: Do not book this on Booking.com since they do not honor Booking.com reservations. Lesson learned, call the hotel a week before you show up to make sure they honor the company you booked your reservation through even if you do get an email by the company you booked through. The hotel might not honor it at the last minute like they did with me.

I just recently stayed at your hotel for 4 nights, had booked online at Priceline. When I got there first they basically judged us because we were local guests, saying we're lucky they're letting us stay there, because of the drugs, and the only reason we're really getting too is because we went through a 3rd party online.
Or else we wouldn't of been able to stay. Then, we go up to our room and it hasn't even been cleaned yet, no sheets on the beds, dirty sheets in the corner, alcohol in the fridge. So they have us another room, that room was dirty as well, so finally our third room we just said we would take it, it didn't have a freezer part in the mini fridge so everything we brought frozen went bad, the remote didn't work had to do it by hand from the TV. Not to mention we had to carry all of our luggage with us going back and forth to the the first and second floor.
and they had a little change of attitude like it was some how our fault. Then as I was going outside I had seen a bug crawling on the carpet inside. They did not make me feel comfortable at all. They didn't even offer anything complimentary after we had to go to 3 different rooms,.
we were not happy with our stay at all especially when I paid almost $400.00 to stay at a place that states "it's very clean, and comfortable." Also it's not as advertised as it is in the Internet, online said they had whirlpool rooms and the staff member said that they did not..
it was all around just disappointing.Even when I went to checkout the lady at the front desk had a rude personality. And I think that I deserve a few complimentary stays or something.

Preferred solution: I would like a full refund, or at least half or more of it. Or a few free night stays in you're best room.

Stop using OTAs! These are simply 3rd parties, middlemen, who will mess up your reservation and cancel at random.
Hotels HATE them! Regarding your phone, front desk agents HATE when people shove their phones in their face, They absolutely HATE it. Stop claiming this has to do with you black!
No one cares as to your skin tone and your reservation had long since been cancelled before you showed up. What is so hard for you to figure out about that?
Your reservation was canceled at 301pm long before you arrived and anyone knew you were black. You should have called and told hotel you would be arriving ten hours late.
And be honest, you would have complained about checking out at 11am only ten hours later. Don’t be that guy.
You could be purple and your reservation would have been canceled. Educate yourself on discrimination.
You missed your check in. It was already the next day.
Do better. Stop throwing the word discrimination around.
